Project Overview
Eco-Friendly Transport was a two-year programme with Mobility Solutions to move a New York logistics fleet off diesel without reducing the number of drops it could make in a day. The answer turned out to be less about the vehicles than about where they stop.
We modelled every route the fleet ran for a full quarter before specifying a single vehicle, which is why the eventual order was smaller and the depot charging plan larger than either party expected at the outset.
Route Analysis
Ninety-two per cent of the fleet's daily routes fell inside an achievable battery range once the return leg was counted properly. The remaining eight per cent were consolidated onto four long-distance runs that kept conventional vehicles for the duration of the programme.
Charging as infrastructure
Depot charging was sized against the overnight window and the site's existing grid connection rather than against peak vehicle demand, which avoided a connection upgrade that would have cost more than the vehicles.
Driver experience
Drivers were involved from the first month. The single largest source of range anxiety was not the battery but the dashboard estimate, which was recalibrated against real route data before the wider rollout.
Results
Fleet emissions fell by 64 per cent against the 2025 baseline, running costs per kilometre by 31 per cent, and the number of daily drops per vehicle was unchanged.
